If you ever want to get an honest reflection of yourself, look into the Word of God.
It’s a mirror that will never show you the wrong image. Rather than covering your flaws, the Bible reveals means through which you can correct them. God’s Word not only shows you how valuable you are but reveal tips on how to increase that value and walk in the consciousness of it.
As a bonus to our “Knowing Yourself” series, we are going to discover how the Bible is more than just a book.
The Word of God
There’s no problem that the Word of God cannot solve. It provides effective advice on how to deal with your problems.
If you often feel lonely, know that in all situations, God is by your side because he promised that he will never leave us nor abandon us. This is because he loves us unconditionally. A glimpse of the expanse of his love is given by Paul in his letter to the Romans.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, principalities nor power, nor things that are now, nor things that are to come can separate me from the love of Christ.”
Romans 8 : 38 – 39
If you are someone who has anger issues (you tend to get angry easily and do not know how to handle it), the Bible advises you not to let the sun go down while you are still angry (Ephesians 4: 26). In other words, the longer you allow your anger to last, the harder it is to control it.
An Example To Follow
The Word of God also says
“Christ died for us while we were still sinners”
Romans 5 :8
and we should
“Forgive our brothers and sisters as Christ forgave us”
We were the offenders in this case – we should have apologized but Jesus took the first step and forgave us. In the same way, when someone offends us, we should learn to let it go and forgive. We should not give in to the anger.
The Bible talks more about holding grudges. It says that:
“if you are about to offer a sacrifice unto the altar and remember that you have something against your brother/ sister/ neighbor or vice versa, leave what you are about to do and go and make peace with them.”
Matthew 5 : 23
This shows us how much God values love, peace and forgiveness.
The Love of a Father
My God shall supply for my needs according to his riches in glory.
Philippians 4: 19
If you are ever in need, this same Word of God assures us that when we ask we shall receive (Matthew 7:7a). Jesus also said “Ask my father anything in my name and you shall receive.” (John 14 : 14-15). This illustrates that prayer in Jesus’ name can solve problems.
That is why we are advised that whatever we do in deed or action, we should do it in the name of Jesus (Colossians 3:17) for that is the name that has the highest authority and at the mention of that name, every circumstance succumbs to his authority.
For by his divine wisdom, he has given us everything that pertains to good life and godliness (2 Peter 1: 3).
What is your definition of good life? Is it prosperity? Wealth? Good health? Never going hungry? You name it – God has already provided.
Let us give thanks to our heavenly father who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 1 :3
Prayer brings these blessings into manifestation.
The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man prevaileth much.
James 5 : 16
So there you have it. I have shown you how the Bible not only reveals a true reflection of yourself but also gives ways we can solve any problem at all.
Till next time.
This is Perception.
