First of all, let’s start off with what you need to know about excellence – well, this is simply the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.

What is Excellence?

“Excellence is about stepping outside the comfort zone, training with a spirit of endeavour, and accepting the inevitability of trials and tribulations. Progress is built, in effect, upon the foundations of necessary failure.

This is the essential paradox of expert performance. When these conditions are in place, learning takes off, knowledge escalates, and performance soars. You are on the path to excellence.”

What is Striving?

Well, one might say this is for the weak and others, attributing it to the poor. But just to think of it, it’s only those that strive that actually make it in life. Here’s a bit of clearity.

Striving is a trait. A trait of the industrious – a attitude of the guy with the big vision. It is an effortful attempt to attain a goal. But sadly, many disregard its importance in the journey for success. Now listen, it is truth that one cannot acheive anything without exerting effort in the attempt to materialize their fantasized dream. It’s time you change the principles you live by and embrace truth. Remember, Striving is not Struggling. For the fact that you are doing everything in your power to achieve your dream doesn’t mean you at the mercy of helplessness, poverty and obscurity.

Striving for excellence is an significant role of competence in any task. It requires an attempt and effort in placing a degree or grade of worth (excellence) into everything you do.

How do you Strive for Excellence?

Here’s are Three basic steps:

  1. Develop a habit of persistence – never settle for a ‘no’ or ‘impossible’ when there’s room for a ‘yes’ or ‘possible’.

  1. Hi. This was a good post. I found your comments about striving to mirror my personal philosophies in life, that I learned in customer service & sales if you can believe that. I will share my thoughts and see where we go. I tell people that success, your excellence, is made of 3 components. Ability. Opportunity. Circumstance. Ability is your skill/talent at a thing. You don’t always start with necessary ability to succeed. But you can learn. Opportunity is about making the most of opportunities, so might easily be called perseverance. Circumstance is everything else, other people and wildcards. Circumstance can aid success or failure and can randomly cause massive success or failure, however this is chance. I find success is achieved if you master ability and opportunity, allowing you to make the most of circumstance. Does that make sense?

    1. Hi John,

Am absolutely and sincerely sorry for my extremely late reply to your comment. Please do have mercy 🙂 .

Moreover, I do find your philosophy to be quite astute. However, I would love to add a little tweak (adjustment) to it. With respect to ‘Ability’, you made mention of it being ‘the skill/talent one might have at something’ – well, I have no contrast there. On the other hand, the point about ‘not always starting with the ‘necessary’ ability to succeed’ is where the dissimilarity comes in. Actually, I believe otherwise. I believe everyone starts and is granted with the ‘necessary’ ability to succeed.

Well, why do I say this?

Simply because, the Bible (the word of God) points out a phenomenal truth in

      Genesis 1: 26-27 (KJV)

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

As you’ve read, man has been made in the image and likeness of God. In other words, man has be granted the full ability to function like God and possess the nature and attributes of God – one of which is the grace (the ability) to succeed in everything. However, this grace or ability cannot function nor manifest in one’s life unless he/she is born again (Romans 10: 9-11).

Asides this, John, I believe your philosophy is on point. Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.

      Success to You!! 🙂 🙂
